The Astoria Renaissance

A vibrant arts scene has cropped up in my hometown of Astoria, New York, across the river from Manhattan. Sponsored by Ad Hoc Art, the Welling Court Mural Project is in its fifth year and brings together some of the best street artists in the world. Here’s a sampling of their work:

The murals are a few blocks away from Socrates Sculpture Park, a cultural mainstay of the neighborhood.
